I will never apologise, Jibrin replies Dogara

by nadum 28 Jul , 2016

The former Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Appropriation Committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has said he will never apologise to the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, for accusing him of corruption.

Jibrin, who was removed as Chairman of the Appropriation Committee last week, had accused Dogara of removing him because he refused to allocate projects worth N40bn to the speaker in the 2016 budget.

Dogara, who denied the allegations, had earlier today given Jibrin a seven-day ultimatum to retract his allegations or face legal actions.

Jibrin, however, insisted that he won’t back down on his allegations.

“I will not and will never apologise,” Jibrin tweeted in reaction to the ultimatum.

Apart from vowing to stand by his allegation, the lawmaker explained via tweets that he was working to get the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission to investigate Dogara.

“I know he (Dogara) will rush to court in order to invoke the House rules that matters in court cannot be heard on the floor,” he said in one of the tweets, while confirming that the Speaker had threatened him with “predictable” legal actions.
