Governor, Nyesom Wike, has approved the payment of the outstanding fees of final year students of the state origin on scholarship in foreign universities.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs Onimim Jack, who oversees Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), announced the decision during a meeting with parents of the children studying abroad, under the scholarship scheme of the state government.
She added that the payment of the outstanding fees for the final year students on foreign scholarship would be paid in instalments, adding that all affected foreign institutions had been contacted by the state government on the development.
She said other students not in final year of their studies would continue their education back in the country in two universities.
The commissioner listed University of Port Harcourt and the Rivers State University of Science and Technology as beneficiary institutions under full scholarship of the state government.
