by nadum 9 Feb , 2016

Former Imo State Governor, Chief Achike Udenwa yesterday blamed both the state and national executives of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for being docile and ineffective, saying that their ineffectiveness allowed evil to thrive particularly in the state and country in general. Udenwa said this when the new caretaker committee members of the party paid him a courtesy visit in his Owerri residence yesterday.

He said:”PDP today in Imo is docile, doing nothing Evil thrives today because PDP is doing nothing.” The former governor, who regretted the ugly situation, said it was the cause of exit of many members from the party out of frustrations.

He lampooned the party leadership for performing poorly during the last election in the state attributing it to the mistake of fielding unacceptable candidates. Udenwa expressed sadness that most of the candidates that vied under the platform of PDP could not win elections in their communities.

While applauding the emergence of the new committee, he charged the members to give the people of the state a credible congress that would produce competent executive that would move the party forward ahead of 2019. According to him, “this is a new dawn in PDP because Imo people are looking up to you to bring back the party to limelight.”

He urged them to be ready to reject any manufactured lists from leaders including himself during the forthcoming party congress if the party is to have a credible congress, adding that “if I bring any list to your committee reject it, so shall you do to other leaders.” He however assured the committee members of his assistance and support to the party to ensure success.

Earlier, the chairman of the committee, Barr. Vitalis Okafor explained that their visit to the former governor was to present themselves to him and ask for his blessings in their new assignment.

He called on the party leaders to support them assuring that the committee would live up to expectation in ensuring that PDP takes over the government house in 2019. The committee chairman expressed optimism that with the full support of the leaders in the state, the party would certainly bounce back.
