Senator Emmanuel Anosike has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The senator who represented Anambra North in the 6th senate, stated this in a personal letter he wrote to the national chairman of PDP, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff.

The senator who reflected on the state of PDP, said he believes it needs a rebirth or renewal with enlightened and educated persons at its leadership rein.

Although, his letter was however silent on which party he is moving to, his decision to dump PDP was reflective of the state of the party in Anambra State.

According to the letter, Sen. Anosike, who considered what he called the ominous baggages of the party in his state, said “based on the foregoing and in line with democratic principles, I hereby tender my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

Anosike was former governorship running mate in the state who traced the injustices and impunity within Anambra PDP from the denial of Prof. ABC Nwosu of the party’s ticket to the infamous kidnap of current minister of labour and then governor of the state, Sen. Chris Ngige.

He added that while he stood with Ngige over the matter he was consequently he was “hurried out of the senate by the machinery of the PDP. The court of Appeal upheld other senate elections in Anambra State but annulled mine on terribly unabashed flimsy tenets that could not survive slight judicial introspection.”

He also reflected on the what he called the ugly wrestling  and castrations that stymied the administration of former governor, Chinwoke Mbadinuju, which he said was the “first open display of undermining general over-riding interests with scornful disdain.”

He also recalled his ordeal as guber running mate to former central bank governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, describing it as the most revolting and horrid display of anti-party afflictions.

“The nuisance value of the PDP and its hierarchy was amply displayed during the Soludo’s candidature. Suits and counter suits rolled on till one week to the elections; engineered by the so called leaders of the party tormenting and destabilizing the party candidates.”

He added “I believe it (PDP) needs a rebirth or renewal with enlightened and educated persons at its leadership the leadership rein.

“This leadership has to operate at the points and levels that political parties in other parts of the civilized world operate.
