The Sun claim that Diego Simeone is keen to re-sign Costa, although the prospect of a deal is more likely to happen at the end of the season, rather than before Monday’s deadline.

The report also claims that Costa, who has scored six goals in his last six games, is in regular contact with his former Atletico team-mates.

Martinez, meanwhile, has played just 657 minutes in La Liga this season following his €35 million move from Porto.
