Rivers Rerun: Why Wike, PDP Want To Stop Me By All Means – Lloyd

by nadum 14 Mar , 2016

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Emohua constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Chidi Julius Lloyd, has said that Governor Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are fighting to stop him from participating in the March 19 rerun election because his chances of winning the election is bright.

The Court of Appeal upheld the ruling of the Rivers State Election Petitions Tribunal, which nullified the election of Hon. Sam Ogeh of the PDP to represent Emohua constituency in the House of Assembly and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a rerun election.

Lloyd, who spoke in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt yesterday, alleged that about five judges of the Rivers State High Court have refused to entertain a suit filed by Wike and the PDP to stop him from contesting in the rerun election.

He said, “My chances in returning to the House of Assembly are very bright, indeed. My people say you don’t change a winning team. Go to Emohua, my constituency and ask. I am very much on ground. And that is why they are trying to stop me by dusting up files of cases that have previously being adjudicated upon. As at yesterday, five judges returned the files that they were not going to preside over such cases.”

The former leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, regretted that the present House is made up of lawmakers, who are hearing about the constitution of Nigeria for the first time, saying before now, the state legislature was rated in the same category with Lagos State House.
