Rivers PDP Calls For Cancellation of Elections In Khana LGA

by nadum 10 Dec , 2016

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the cancellation of the Re-run elections in Khana Local Government Area of the State as the exercise has been marred by irregularities and orchestrated violence by the All Progressives Congress (APC) against members of the PDP in Khana LGA.
A statement by the Chairman of the party in Rivers State, Bro. Felix Obuah, signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam said emerging scenarios in all the polling units in Khana LGA made it necessary for the party to call for outright cancellation of the polls in Khana LGA.

The PDP said information available to the party indicate that APC chieftains in Khana LGA in the company of armed security men and thugs are going round all polling units, hijacking electoral materials and carting them away.

The party expressed worries that APC kingpins are on the prowl moving with armed trotting, stern looking army and policemen in search of PDP chieftains, all in the bid to scare them away from participating in the election.

The PDP said it had earlier raised the alarm on the activities of the Director of Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Derrick Mene who accompanied by armed police, army and political thugs have been going about, snatching electoral materials and hunting members of the PDP.

As at the time of issuing this statement, the PDP said Mr. Derrick Mene and his thugs were hunting for the Special Adviser to Governor Wike on Special Projects, Hon. Cyril Dum Wite and that Wite’s Personal Assistant was lying critically ill as he was manhandled by his assailants who demanded for the where about of Cyril Dum Wite.

Signed:

Jerry Needam

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to

Bro. Felix Obuah, PDP Chairman, Rivers State.
