Ozil misses out on PFA Team of the Year as Leicester & Tottenham dominate

by nadum 26 Apr , 2016

The Premier League’s top two teams supplied eight players to the star XI, with one offering each from West Ham, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Leicester City and Tottenham have four representatives each in the PFA Team of the Year, with Arsenal star Mesut Ozil left out of the Premier League’s best XI for 2015-16.

The German playmaker misses out on the team despite racking up 18 assists, with Tottenham starlet Dele Alli preferred in central midfield alongside Leicester’s N’Golo Kante.

For the third time in his Manchester United career, David de Gea gets the nod as the division’s top goalkeeper on the back of another impressive season.

Arsenal starlet Hector Bellerin has continued to shine and takes the spot on the right side of the defence, while England left-back Danny Rose wins the honour on the opposite flank.

Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld has arguably become the division’s stand-out centre-back under manager Mauricio Pochettino and lines up alongside Leicester skipper Wes Morgan at the heart of the back four.

In midfield, Riyad Mahrez’s 16 league goals have earned him his place on the right, while Dimitri Payet has been in sublime form following his summer move from Marseille and lines up on the left flank.

The centre of the park is again split by the title challengers, with Spurs youngster Alli making the team in his first season in the top flight alongside Kante.

In attack it’s an all-English affair, with the division’s two top scorers Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy netting 46 goals between them so far in 2015-16.
