THE candidates for next Saturday’s Edo State governorship poll have unveiled their roadmaps for the state.

The candidates spoke at a debate organised by Channels Television, on Sunday.

Four candidates participated in the debate, where they spoke on the economy, job creation, agriculture, manufacturing and mining.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Godwin Obaseki, promised a massive job creation through agricultural development.

Obaseki, who promised to create over 200,000 jobs through agriculture and its value chain, said the state would become the driver of the country’s food production if he emerged governor.

He said he was looking forward to harnessing the vast arable land of the state to boost the state’s economy.

But the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a former Secretary to the State Government, promised a departure from the style of governance of the Adams Oshiomhole administration, which he described as a disaster.

Ize-Iyamu, who spent part of his time to defend his role in the Lucky Igbinedion administration as SSG, promised to end the era of multiple taxations and use his experience as a farmer to boost farming.

Amos Areloegbe, a candidate of the Labour Party, said the state would witness a surge in tourism investment if he is voted as the next governor of the state.

He said the state could not afford to ignore the potential of its ancient cites.

According to him, the state had not been fortunate to witness true democracy and transparent governance. He said his administration would be transparent and people-oriented.

On his part, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Onaiwu Osaro, promised to implement what he called the Anambra template. He said Anambra State had achieved robust infrastructural development under the APGA leadership.
