In a poll conducted by Goal, the Barcelona attacker claimed a comfortable victory with 46 per cent of the votes, ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo in second with 31 per cent and Douglas Costa in third with just 7 per cent.

Most of the voting was split between Neymar and Ronaldo, with the Brazilian’s superb form this season pipping the Blancos icon to first place.

Neymar will now take his place in Goal’s team of the season so far as we continue to ask readers to vote for their best player in each position at the halfway point of the 2015-16 campaign.
