In the past few days, there has been no let-off in the war of words between singer, Wizkid and blogger, Linda Ikeji. Many Nigerians who have followed the attacks by the duo on each other in the social media have expressed utter disappointment at the use of ‘dirty’ words by Wizkid.
Question is asked, should celebrities be provoked to the extent of using unclad words on personalities on air or in print?
ANTHONY ADA ABRAHAM writes on the rift.
An expose on Linda Ikeji’s blog about the palatial home of the music star in Lekki, Lagos being on rental started off the latest round of war between the now sworn enemies. Wizkid, it was said, had before now claimed ownership of the home. Ikeji’s revelation obviously did not go down well with Wizkid who immediately fired back at the blogger, employing derogatory comments.
To say the use of such words as ‘stinking pussy’ is obscene and offensive to many, is to state the obvious. Are these celebrities the kind of role models this country needs? Wizkids response is not justified in any way or manner. Notwithstanding their ages, our celebrities should know that many youths look up to them and there is, therefore, the need for them to be civil in their utterances and actions.
Our entertainers should devise better ways of responding to criticisms or negative press other than unnecessary display of tantrums and resort to abuses and use of inelegant words which diminish them before right thinking and decent members of the public. Quite frankly, it needs be stated that many stories around these entertainers are negative as they often times bother on scandals. Our musicians, in particular, will do their image good by employing professionals as public relations officers or consultants.
A well-managed artiste obviously would have reacted to Ikeji’s expose in a more civilized manner or even in a light-hearted form and I bet the matter would have not escalated to the point of being a general knowledge. Even at the risk of being accused of taking side, I dare say Wizkid is actually hurting himself with his unguarded and vitriolic rants.
The musician’s allegation that his director not only slept with Ikeji but had to abandon her in hotel because her ‘private’ stinks caused a big lashback. Though the blogger denied this allegation, many people have been hazarding a guess as to which of Wizkid’s directors could be behind the snitching of Linda? Let’s look at the directors that have worked with the Ojuelegba crooner:
Del B
Ayodele Basel, better known as Del B produced two songs entitled “Kind Love” and “On Top Your Matter” on Wizkid’s monster album, Ayo. Del B is a well-known ladies’ man and it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s not the director in question.
Maleek Berry
Maleek is an alleged suspect in the smelly vagina scandal because he is a Wizkid producer and his works has been rigorously promoted by Linda on her blog. Is he the snitch?
Moe Musa
Moe Musa is another alleged possible director that may be behind the snitching allegation. Moe Musa directs for Wizkid, mostly his UK- located video, like Caro & Ginger. He is also quite strapped. It is unlikely Musa is the man but then he is a ‘Wizkid director’.
Sesan
Sesan Ogunro is allegedly the man most likely to have leaked information to Wizkid about having a one night stand with Ikeji because they are said to be very close and often hang out. Sesan is also from an affluent background which means he can afford Linda to some extent. He is handsome, hunky and has a huge egg plant – a feature Linda doesn’t hide her admiration for. The biggest hint that he is the one is the fact that Linda Ikeji broke the news of Sesan‘s father’s death in 2013 when even some family members were in the dark.
Shizzi
Shizzi is another alleged suspect because he is handsome and loaded. It is unlikely that he will kiss and tell but you can never be too sure.
Well, these are the names of the directors that are working or had worked with Wizkid and it needs be repeated that Ikeji has insisted on her innocence. In case, you did not see her reation, here it is:
So my darling little ‘friend’ Wizkid came on my IG (instagram) page this morning to blast me for writing [yesterday] that he was given quit notice at the Lekki home he claimed he bought some years ago, which he actually rented. He threatened to beat me up…called me an ugly old bitch…(I’m ugly? lol) says I don’t have a man (crying over that..) and called my mum a loser…(what a child).
Anyway, all that don’t matter, people have said worse to me…what I wanted to address is the part where he said I slept with his director and he left me in a hotel…that one I will definitely want to address because some people actually believe it. That my dear friends, is a lie! Please continue…
First and foremost, I’ve never met Wizkid one on one. I’ve only seen him once in real life on stage at a show a few years ago. I’ve never met anybody who is his director. Guess he put that line in his comments to defame me. You that made that people now know the house is not yours? Lol.
Trust me, if I knew someone was Wizkid’s director, I’d rather kill myself than sleep with him or any other entertainer for that matter (except maybe he’s my husband…hehe) because I know how some of these entertainers are…they kiss and tell a lot. You can’t afford to be messing around in their circle. So, no, I have NEVER slept with Wizkid’s director. I live a celibate life…most of the time. (Though, that has to end soon…I’m getting old and missing out on that part of life…lol).
I’ve always been an advocate of women respecting their bodies and owning their own. And I feel sex should only happen when you’re in committed relationship (that is if you can’t wait till marriage) and I recommend celibacy for a long as you’re not committed to someone. There’s absolutely no dignity in sleeping around and messing around with different men. It’s ugly and God don’t like ugly. So no, I’m not that woman, and will never be that woman. Nice try, Wizkid!
Having said that, I’m sure, you wonder why Wizkid is so mad at me? To be honest, I don’t know either. All I know is that his beef with me started a long time ago but he decided to start bashing me online after I refused a meeting with him. A few months ago, he asked his PR people to contact me, that he wanted to talk to me. For some reason, he thought I didn’t like him and I was hurting his image online. He wanted to see how I could write more positive things about him but I turned down the meeting. Not that I have anything against him, I sincerely don’t! I think he’s an amazing talent and one of the few music stars in Nigeria with a midas touch. So this wasn’t personal. I just didn’t want to meet him. If he lobbies me then it means I won’t be able to write anything about him anymore…and my job is to write…about everything, including entertainers.
I am cordial with some of them…many of them I have never met. I try to stay away from gatherings where they are because the more friends you make in the entertainment industry, the less you can write. And that will inadvertently affect your work. The few ones that I call acquaintances, it’s hard to write about them because you feel you’re cool with them and even when you write, they call you to complain. So, the fewer ‘friends’ I have in the entertainment industry, the better my job will be.
So Wizkid can bash me all he wants…but I will continue to do my job. Maybe he thinks the more he bashes me, then I will stop writing about him? Won’t work. But meanwhile, if he tells a lie about me, I will address it.
With her response and Wizkid’s continued bashing, we wait to see who laughs last.
