AS Lokoja, the Kogi State capital stood still for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, the Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari, of drawing N12.4 billion out of the controversial N25 billion Treasury Single Account (TSA) fund to prosecute the Kogi State governorship election.
Besides, he said the President, with his actions, was running the country into anarchy and dictatorship,  urging Nigerians to rise and defend the nation’s democracy.
Apart from Fayose, the acting National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus and the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum (PDPGF), Dr Olusegun Mimiko, also berated the ruling party for attempting to drift the country towards a one party state.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium, during the grand finale of the campaign of Governor Idris Wada, towards the November 21 governorship election, Fayose said it was unfortunate that Buhari was supporting the move to thwart the resolve of the people of Kogi to freely elect their governor.
According to him, the present administration of Buhari and that of the former president Olusegun Obasanjo are the same, as they both lack respect for the rule of law.
The Ekiti governor said, “We are in opposition and it is known that opposition is the strength of democracy, opposition is the bedrock of the people to take their right from a deserving government, opposition stands against the suffering of innocent people.
“If you look at the style of the administration of this government and the stand of administration of General Olusegun Obasanjo, they are the same because they are all former military people, who don’t have respect for rule of law, as I speak here, the National Security Adviser under president Goodluck Jonathan is still under incarceration against court orders, what a government, what a disobedience to rule of law.
“They want to run Nigeria into anarchy, they want to run Nigeria into dictatorship, they are not God and on this Kogi election, God will shame them. You want to be president of Nigeria, you are already president, you are controlling well over 20 states, why should you turn Nigeria into one party state?, why will you bring thugs and OPC into Kogi State?
“Tell them to pay attention to the economy that is failing by day, tell them to pay attention to Boko Haram, this election must not be militarised by them.
Speaking, Mimiko said the election in Kogi is about continuity and retrogression, urging the people of Kogi not to send the state back into the dark old days.
The Ondo State governor added that the APC had failed the people of the state, saying they should vote for Wada who had already put the state on the path of development.
Secondus also said the election is about the future of the people of the state, adding that Wada had performed and should be returned as governor.
In his remark, the former national chairman of the party, Alhaji Ahmadu Ali, said the turn out at the grand finale was a testimony that PDP was still very strong and virile in the state, noting that  all the antics of the APC to rig Kogi election have been uncovered and it would be resisted.
He also reaffirmed that Captain Wada would only come to spend four years, assuring that power must rotate to other two districts in 2019.
Addressing the supporters, Wada, while highlighting his achievements said the party in the last 12 years have touched the lives of citizens through the provision of basic infrastructure.
On the bailout, the governor said APC was playing politics with it without recourse for the welfare of the workers who were supposed to enjoy the fund.
