Kinsmen of former President Goodluck Jonathan in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have given conditions for the re-election of Governor Seriake Dickson ahead of the December 5 governorship election in the state.
The Ogbia people gave Dickson the conditions during his two-day community-to-community campaign tour to the area which ended on Wednesday.
Jonathan and his wife, Patience, were conspicuously absent when the governor and members of his entourage visited their ward 13 which comprises Otuoke, Otuabula 1, Ewoi and Otuaba communities.
From one community to another, the representatives of the communities were unanimous in their presentations that it was imperative for the Dickson-led administration to provide social amenities to get support for another term in office.
At Imiringi, Peter Afagha, who spoke on behalf of the community, asked Dickson to complete the abandoned 14-kilometre Opolo-Elebele Road and rehabilitate the non-functioning water facility in the area.
He also asked him to improve security and save Ogbia people from frequent attacks by sea pirates who kill, harass, maim and dispossess them of their valuables.
Afagha further expressed concern over poor access to health care in Ogbia Kingdom as there were hardly any functional health facility.
According to him, the people of Ogbia travel a long distance to seek medical treatment at the Federal Medical Centre(FMC) in Yenagoa, the state capital.
He lamented that since 2012 when Dickson promised to restore power supply to Ogbia Kingdom, the area had remained under power outage as the promise was yet to be fulfilled.
