The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has threatened to expose compromised police officers reposted to the state if the Inspector-General of Police fails to transfer them out of the state.

Wike said he had alerted the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, about the reposting to the state of some police officers, who had allegedly been compromised by politicians.

The governor, who said this on Monday while addressing medical practitioners at the Government House in Port Harcourt, described the development as a plot to reverse the gains made by the state in the promotion of security of lives and property.

He alleged that the said police officers were posted back to the state to carry out illegal duties.

Wike maintained that he would mention the names of the police officers through a state broadcast and the “ignominious” roles they played in compromising the security of the state.

He specifically said that a senior police officer, who was indicted for aiding kidnappers and cultists in the state had been posted back in the current attempt to manipulate the security architecture of the state.
