Hiddink: I won’t extend Chelsea stay

by nadum 9 Jan , 2016

The Blues are still in the hunt for silverware, but their interim boss insists he will leave at the end of the season even if they succeed in winning a trophy.Guus Hiddink has no plans to extend his stay as Chelsea manager even if he manages to win silverware at Stamford Bridge this season.

The Dutchman took over on an interim basis for the second time in his career following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho last month, after a poor start to the their Premier League title defence.

While Chelsea’s hopes of silverware are now focused on the Champions League and FA Cup, Hiddink is adamant that, regardless of any success in those competitions, he will not stay on.

“I have put two dates in my mind. The 25th and 28th of May, then it’s finished and I can go home on the 29th,” he told reporters ahead of their FA Cup tie with Scunthorpe on Sunday.

“The first is the FA Cup final and the second is the Champions League. I think we have made it very clear at the end of this then I will stop.”

Since Hiddink took over in December, Chelsea have drawn two matches and defeated Crystal Palace 3-0 to stretch their unbeaten run to four.
