Hoodlums on Wednesday, murdered a middle-aged salesgirl after raping her in Afiesere community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Although the identity of the victim has not been ascertained at Press time, a witness said she was a sales girl at a building material store.

The deceased was murdered inside the store with a hammer blow on her head after she was raped.
According to the witness, when the attackers came, they told her that they wanted to buy building materials and she promptly led them inside only for them to immediately lock the door before attacking her.

When the owner of the store came after some hours, he was surprised to find the door jammed, but when he forced it open, he saw the lifeless body of the salesgirl and noticed that she was raped.
Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Celestina Kalu, said her office was yet to be briefed about the incident.
