Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, has accused Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, of making a speech constituting a threat to his life.
Mr Sani, via a statement by Suleiman Ahmed, his special adviser on politics and ideology, accused the governor of making the offensive comment at a Town Hall meeting in Giwa Local Government on June 4.
“The governor reliably and evidently referred to Senator Sani,Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed,Isa Ashiru Kudan as ‘ants he will match and crush’,” the statement said.
“We view his unguarded and provocative utterances as nothing but a hate speech and a direct threat to the life of Senator Sani and others whom the governor perceived as his ‘enemies’.
“We hold Governor Nasir El-rufai personally responsible for any harm done to Senator Sani.
“This statement is to publicly alert security agencies and the general public that in the event of any injury or assassination of Senator Shehu Sani, no one should be held responsible but Governor Nasir El-Rufai.”
“We wish to let Governor El-Rufai know that threats of ‘crushing’ or execution cannot deter us from our noble path in protecting our people from his brigandage.”
Responding to the senator’s attack on Governor El-Rufai, the Acting Publicity Secretary of the Kaduna State chapter of the APC, Salisu Wusono, accused Senator Sani of being part of those who opposed his own party and collaborated with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to foist a corrupt leadership on the Nigerian Senate.
“Everyone can see how passionate he is in support of corruption,” Mr. Wusono said.
“Because his patrons are at risk from President Buhari’s onslaught on corruption, he dismissed and criticised the war on corruption.
“His childish , egotistic, malicious and mischievous disposition mark him out as one unsuited for continued membership of our party.
“His mind and spirit were never with the APC , and he can no longer hide it.
“His opposition to President Muhammadu Buhari,Malam El-Rufai and the APC is already well known.
“He will oppose anything that is good, that will bring process and enhance our people, especially if it does not sound populist.
“He is undergoing disciplinary processes for his indiscipline.”
