by nadum 19 Mar , 2016

EKITI State government has raised the alarm over attempts by the Federal Government to intimidate the government of Governor Ayodele Fayose in the state. This, the government said followed series of intimidation by officials of the Department of State Security (DSS) against members of the state House of Assembly and members of the State Executive Council.

To this end, members of the state Executive Council were said to have gone into hiding to avoid being arrested.
Addressing a press conference in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, Dr. Modupe Alade alleged that officials of the DSS are on the trail of some members of the state Executive Council.
However, he declared that the government and people of the state would resist any attempt by the Federal government to disrupt democratic system in the state.

The SSG alleged that, “the Federal government is intimidating the present government in the state led by Mr. Ayodele Fayose by planning to arrest all the state lawmakers and members of the state Executive
Council through the DSS operatives.”

She said all members of the state Executive Council and political aides of Governor Fayose are currently living in fear following the alleged arrest of some Lawmakers.

She said the decision to address the press outside his state was because of fear of being arrested by DSS officials, who she said are after her and other members of the Fayose led government.

The SSG stated that she had been receiving telephone calls from GSM number +447442364448, adding that the caller who identified himself as Paul Okafor from DSS office told her to report herself at the DSS office in her own interest.

She said she declined the invitation received through telephone as it was not a formal invitation, noting that the current situation in the state was a plot by the Federal government to disrupt the Fayose led government in the state.

However, she expressed her readiness to honour the DSS invitation if formally invited, saying that “I have no skeleton in my cupboard, but for them to be embarrassing me with phone calls, I will not accept that”.
