A former Niger State governor, Babangida Aliyu, is currently being grilled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged fraud.
The former governor who served between 2007 and 2015, honoured an invitation by the anti-graft agency on Tuesday but has remained with the commission since then.
Dr. Aliyu’s invitation may be connected to the call by the current administration in the state for an investigation of his administration which the government alleged was involved in some questionable transactions during his tenure.
The government had set up a committee to look at all major financial transactions carried out by the state and local governments from 2007 to 2015.
