Director-General of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, has said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rekindled the hope of Nigerians in having a free, fair and credible election with the conduct of the just concluded governorship polls in Edo State.
Peterside, who is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, who stated this on Friday at the party campaign rally at Ngo Town in Andoni local government area of the state, challenged INEC and security agencies on the forthcoming National and State Assembly rerun elections in the state.
The NIMASA boss said the re-run election will determine the fate of Nigeria democracy come 2019, pointing out that during the 2015 general election, guns and bullets outnumbered ballots boxes and papers in the state
Also speaking, the chairman, Election Planning Committee of the APC, Engr. Sampson Ngerebara, berated Governor Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike for not appointing an indigene of Andoni local government area into his cabinet.
Ngerebara, who is a former commissioner for Works in the state, wondered what the local government area will benefit from the Wike-led administration without a representative in the State Executive Council.
He stated that for more sixteen years of PDP rule in the state, the area have produced a commissioner for eight years, a deputy governor for eight years, party chairman at various levels, but regretted that no meaningful project or development have been attracted to the area.
