The African Institute of Public Health Professionals (AIPHP) has conferred its fellowship award on the former commissioner of Health in Rivers state, Dr Sampson Parker.
The award was as a result of Parker’s role in curtailing and management of the Ebola virus outbreak in Rivers state in 2014.
A letter conveying the news of the award to Dr Parker by the director general of AIPHP, Yakubu Sirdic, said the former health commissioner was recognised for his selfless effort in combating the spread of
Ebola virus in Nigeria and Africa at large.
Sirdic in the letter explained that it was the tradition of the institute to confer fellowship status on selected, deserving individuals who have contributed in no small measure to the public health care in the individual region countries particularly in Africa and the world at large.
