Also barred from taking place in the state capital was an empowerment program planned for the same day at Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium Kofar Mata by the supporters of the state government.
It was gathered that the supporters of the former governor of the state and Senator, Kano Central, had planned their occasion at the Polo Ground along Club Road Kano.
Security sources held these events were continuation of the intra- party rivalry between both camps and the police, in their wisdom, feared that they were capable of undermining the peace of the state if allowed to hold on the same day.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Magiya said both occasions had been suspended indefinitely.
He explained that security intelligence available at their disposal had revealed that some disgruntled elements in the state were preparing to use the occasions to perpetuate havoc in the state.
