The former club doctor is seeking damages and to be reinstated to her first-team role after she lost her job in September following a public falling-out with Jose Mourinho.Eva Carneiro arrived at an employment tribunal court for the first hearing over her dismissal claim against Chelsea on Wednesday.

The former club doctor is claiming constructive dismissal and sexual discrimination against the Premier League champions after a public falling out with manager Jose Mourinho which resulted in her losing her job last September.

Carneiro, flanked by husband Jason De Carteret, arrived at the London South Employment Tribunal in Croydon with the first hearing of her legal battle set to be heard in front of a judge.

Carneiro was described as “impulsive and naive” by Mourinho after rushing onto the field to attend to Eden Hazard in stoppage time as Chelsea drew 2-2 with Swansea City on the opening day of the season.

Referee Michael Oliver waved the medical team onto the pitch, meaning Chelsea played out the final minutes of the game at Stamford Bridge with just nine men following Thibaut Courtois’s earlier red card.

Carneiro and head physio Jon Fearn were subsequently demoted from first-team duties, with the former leaving her post in September while Fearn remained at the club.

Footage from the touchline on August 8 claimed to show Mourinho use abusive language towards Carneiro but the manager, who has since been sacked after a string poor results, was cleared by the Football Association.

Wednesday’s hearing was set after both parties failed to agree a settlement, with witness statements and further evidence now being assessed ahead of the setting of a full tribunal date.

Carneiro is seeking damages for sexual discrimination from Mourinho, aggravated damages from Chelsea, personal injury compension and to be reinstated as first-team doctor, a role she has held since 2011.
