Rivers State has experienced a great change that even the eyes of the blind can see as a result of the structural change that the Governor has put in place. The Former Governor was able to convinced the state that of a truth, the state is the “treasure base of the Nation”.
To an ordinary person, what is the meaning of treasure base, as some people usually said in time past, no good road, no basic infrastructure that dignified the state as per the paraded representation it has in the yes of the people that has head it without seen.
A state that houses the raver that feeds the nation. Sited in the state are two refineries, one petrochemical plant,One Liguidified Gas Plant, a Gas Free Zone,and major Oil companies that Nigeria and the World counts on. In a simple terms, its the hup of the Nigeria Economy, the fulcrum of the strength of the Niger Delta. If a Foreigner has not visited Rivers State, his visit to the Nation Nigeria is not complete and fulfilled.
This is a state that internal generated revenue is equivalent to some state allocation. The pride of the sons there in, Oh Rivers State, the state of my birth, the state that gave birth to what has caused the Kings and the Queen of Nigeria to beat their chest for hope even when Nations weep so sour.
The distinct thing about all this characteristic of the state was that the people there in was kajioed for a long time until the former Governor of the state, RT.Hon. Rotimi Amaechi became the Governor of the state.
The people of the state does not know that the government can construct a dual carriage Road all over the city with street light that lights the road for nite users as like what we use to see in Lagos.
Also, the citizenry of the state has no good knowledge of the fact that Primary schools can be build and furnished to standard that other Governors of the entire Federation come to take a look and a snap shot of the beauty of the work piece. In short, the Government of former Governor Amaechi opened the eye of eyes of the entire Rivers people that the government led by our former governor is a clear simple and Crystal image of what the “ Treasure Base Of The Nation” supposed to be.
It does not stop there, the Governor also build Model Secondary schools, Health Centres in all the Local Government of the state to ensure that his campaign promises which he gave the people of Rivers State is fulfilled.
The most unique thing about all this government projects in the state is the standardization. All the primary schools, Health Centers, Model secondary schools, Roads in state are the same in plan . Gone are those days State government projects where plan,implemented without touch of government stamps.
Governor Amaechi actually restored the “FACE” of the Portharcourt, THE GARDEN CITY we used to know.
Another thing why Governor Amaechi will not be forgetting in a swift is his “boldness”, before his resumes office, the state was in a state of serious security challenge, the act of criminality, kidnapping and robbery was at the pick in the state. The situation was serious that the federal government declared a state of Imagency in Rivers State. The people of the state was virtually sleeping with one eyes “OPENED” according to one of the campaign slogan we use to know.
But when He came up, He calmed the state to the point that you can come back to pick your N100
recharge card that fall from your hand. Without compromise, he forced all the evil elements from the state. The former Governor was a man of decision that Rivers people will not forget, thou, his decisions where painful at first, but later, makes a milion dallar meaning to the people of the state.
Some of those decisions are: Breaking down of Houses build into the Major road of the city, building on water ways, Banned of the use of okada, Introduction of TIMARIV for the control of Illegal packing of Car and reckless driving.
Of a truth, there is no more Governor like Amaechi, the man that will ride on sport Bike to as far as Echae, Lubara Town In Khana LGA and other parts of the state all a lone to supervise his projects without notice or security guilds.
All this and many more are what I have personally decided to present to you all and the Present Governor of Rivers State and his cabinets, is not by diving into the sea but by “bringing with you the WHITE SAND at the depth of the SEA”.
Governor “Wike” should know that River People expect Much from him without no Atom of excuse.
This is One year in Office, the BALL is kicked rolled, one year of four Years is Gone, CAN HE HANDLE THE MANDATE, CAN HE DELIVER THE PROCEEDS OF DEMOCRACY, THAT MAKES THE STATE” TREASURE BASE OF THE NATION? .
