President Muhammadu Buhari will, next Wednesday, address the February session of the European Union (EU) Parliament in Brussel. The President of European Union Parliament, Martin Schulz, invited President Buhari to address both the executive and legislative arms of EU.Head of Delegation of European Union Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Michel Arrion announced this at a press briefing to discuss the pending visit of the president to the European parliament. He said a number of issues would be discussed extensively but the top agenda to be discussed in the meeting would be on corruption, security, economy and migration, in a bid to see how the international community will help in his agenda.
“There is no big surprise in the agenda because we want to hear from the president. We want to listen to him; we know that he will come with his top priority agenda; his agenda is made up of three main points, including security, security in general, security in Nigeria, the North -East, and other areas of Nigeria. Discussing how we can work together, international cooperation, in the field of security, fight against terrorism and counter terrorism.
How can the EU, the international community help Nigeria in addressing the major threat of the Boko Haram insurgency and other sources of insecurity, not just the major threat, but also the long term addressing the root causes of insecurity.
