Gianni Infantino has been declared winner of the FIFA presidency election.
He won with an outright majority in the second round of voting.
From the 207 national associations at FIFA’s congress in Zurich, Switzerland, Mr Infantino got 115 votes, beating pre-vote favourite Sheikh Salman, president of the Asian Football Confederation, into second place with 88.
In the first round, Infantino led with 88 votes. Sheikh Salman had 85 votes, Prince Ali 27, and Champagne seven.
The 45-year-old general secretary of European governing body UEFA will now replace Sepp Blatter, who resigned from FIFA leadership following allegations of corruption.
