Arsenal and Manchester City officially mathematically ruled out of Premier League title race

by nadum 25 Apr , 2016

Arsenal and Manchester City have been mathematically ruled out of the Premier League title race following Leicester’s 4-0 win over Swansea on Sunday.
Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes just needed a point to ensure that the Gunners could not win the league after Arsene Wenger’s side failed to defeat Sunderland earlier in the day. The win also rules out City, who still have Europe to play for.

Arsenal will finish the season without a major title, discounting the Community Shield, while City face Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League, with the first leg taking place on Tuesday at the City of Manchester Stadium.

On 76 points, Leicester are now 12 clear of both Ciity and Arsenal (64 each) with three matches remaining. The Foxes are eight ahead of Tottenham (68), the only other team who can win the title, with Spurs in action against West Brom on Monday. If Spurs win that game, the gap will be five points with three matches remaining.
