LINEUPS: Mikel leads Chelsea against Ibrahimovic’s PSG

by nadum 16 Feb , 2016

Guus Hiddink makes two changes to the side which started Saturday’s 5-1 win over Newcastle, with Baba Rahman and John Mikel Obi starting for the Blues. With John Terry missing through injury Branislav Ivanovic, skipper for the night, will partner Gary Cahill in central defence.

That enables Cesar Azpilicueta to move to right-back and Baba to start at left-back. With Nemanja Matic serving a suspension, John Mikel Obi and Cesc Fabregas are deployed as the two deep-lying midfielders.

The front four remains unchanged from the weekend, with Pedro retaining his place in the side after scoring a brace. Oscar, who wasn’t involved at the weekend, starts on the bench, while there is also a first involvement for Matt Miazga, who is named among the substitutes.

Former Chelsea defender David Luiz starts for Paris Saint-Germain, partnering Thiago Silva at the heart of the back four. Zlatan Ibrahimovic leads the line, flanked by Lucas Moura and Angel Di Maria. Chelsea are expected to line up in the following 4-2-3-1 formation:

Courtois; Azpilicueta, Cahill, Ivanovic (c), Baba; Fabregas, Mikel; Pedro, Willian, Hazard; Diego Costa.

Subs: Begovic, Miazga, Loftus-Cheek, Oscar, Kenedy, Traore, Remy .

Paris Saint-Germain are expected to line up in the following 4-3-3 formation:

Trapp; Marquinhos, Silva (c), David Luiz, Maxwell; Verratti, Motta, Matuidi; Lucas, Ibrahimovic, Di Maria.

Subs: Sirigu, Van Der Wiel, Kurzawa, Rabiot, Stambouli, Pastore, Cavani.
