She’s got a blank space, and they wrote her name. The nominees for the 2016 Grammy Awards were announced early Monday, Dec. 7, and 1989 hitmaker Taylor Swift leads the pack with nominations for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year.
Alicia Keys kicked off the 58th Grammy festivities on CBS This Morning on Monday, where all four top categories were announced.
Nominees for Best New Artist include Courtney Barnett, James Bay, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly, and Meghan Trainor.
Meanwhile, Swift faces off against her close pal Ed Sheeran for Record of the Year and Song of the Year as the British crooner’s single “Thinking Out Loud” faces off against “Blank Space” for the title.
The coveted Album of the Year nominees include Swift, the Alabama Shakes, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Stapleton.
Swift leading the pack is no surprise after she released the top-selling album in 2014.
The record has sold more than 5 million copies in the U.S., making it one of the highest-selling albums of 2015 (the reigning queen is Adele).
Her singles from the album included “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” “Style,” “Bad Blood,” and “Wildest Dreams.” Three out of the five tracks made it the top spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 list.
The window of eligibility for this round opened from September 2014 to September 2015, which is why Adele was not listed as one of the nominees.
The 58th Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2016, at 8 p.m., on CBS. Check out the list of nominees below.
